In Catering > Items, you see a list of existing catering items that you use when building a menu. On this page, you can:

  • Search for a certain item using the search field or the filter.
  • Import new items or updates to the existing ones.
  • Export items that are displayed in the table.
  • Delete, disable, or enable items.
  • Create new items.

Adding a catering item

Add a new catering menu item directly in this view by clicking the +ADD button at the top right of the Catering Items page. A Catering Menu Items Details window opens for you to enter relevant details where certain fields are mandatory to fill in.

  1. (mandatory) Classification - whether this is beverage, food, or snack for it to appear later in menu selection.
  2. (mandatory) Name of the item that is a complete individual unit for ordering.
  3. (mandatory) Description for users to get more info where relevant.
  4. Nutritional Information
  5. (mandatory) Order Policy to direct how long the item takes to prepare and when it becomes available for ordering.
  6. Supplier
  7. Cost shown to the end user.
  8. Retail price for tracking any external catering vendor prices.
  9. The Enabled toggle. Turn it on to enable the entire Catering Item, make it visible for others in the menus that use this item.
  10. (mandatory) Select Image to represent the item visually in the menu. Use the following formats: JPEG, JPG, PNG, or SVG.

After you've entered details for the catering item, click Save Item to continue. New section opens for you to Add Allergens and Dietary Types. Indicate (11) Dietary type for this catering item and/or (12) Allergens. They help users to filter out foods with allergens or display food that's only compatible with their specific diet.

Now, saved items can be used to build a menu.

Editing a catering item

To edit a menu item, click the catering item row. On the Catering Menu Item Details page that opens, you will be able to edit data in the same fields as when you did to create an item.

  1. Click the Export button.
  2. In the popup that opens, select the fields to include.
  3. Click Export to confirm selection.
