Android or iOS phones can securely communicate with readers from close-range or from a distance by selecting the reader from the app.
Preconditions
There are the following preconditions for the Gallagher technology to work:
- Hardware. Gallagher reader devices are installed at the door or barrier. Roamer X features depend on the configuration of these readers.
-
Users enrolment. Users and Mobile IDs are managed by the administrator via the Gallagher Command Centre portal.
Read more about Gallagher mobile access control deployment best practices here: Best Practices for Mobile Access Control Deployment - OS compatibility. End users' mobile devices run on latest iOS and Android versions with the most recent Roamer X version installed.
-
Phone settings:
- iOS devices have BLE setting enabled.
- Android devices have NFC and BLE settings enabled.
- Roamer X must be running in the foreground with the device unlocked to work with Mobile Connect.
Important notes
- Configuration of the Mobile Connect setup occurs on the Gallagher Command Centre side. More guidance on the official Gallagher website: Best Practices for Mobile Access Control Deployment
Roamer X accepts and shows the valid security pass for the user as part of its other mobile access features. - A valid token is active for 3 days. There's no option to request token refresh from Roamer X.
- Gallagher Command Centre administrator should disable SMS option for notifications for Gallagher security passes to successfully work in Roamer X.
- User's email invitation expires in 7 days after sending. After it expires, the Gallagher account must be activated by the admin again.
- Gallagher security pass is tied to the device where the invitation has been accepted. Changing the device or resetting it to the factory settings will mean that the Gallagher credentials must be sent again to the user.
