IBSS system is designed to follow these principles around time settings:

  • All dates and times are recorded in the UTC format by the system. Any requests for information (searches, retrieving booking or visit records, etc.) are converted to UTC time before they are sent to server.
  • A building with its associated spaces have their own time zone setting.
  • An individual user has their working day preferences for IBSS apps and time zone setting of their device.

The IBSS system takes the time zone setting of the device as the starting point for all other settings and defaults. This means:

  • The user working day preferences will be set with respect to the device time zone setting.
  • Then, when trying to book, the IBSS system will search for a space within the working day preferences by default:
    • If the current time is before your working day start, the search will be completed for today.
    • If the current time is after your working day start, the search will be completed for tomorrow.

Example

If you have you computer set up for, let's say, Chinese time zone (GMT +8), you are currently travelling and staying in Germany (GMT+2), and your working day starts at 9 AM, you'll have to do the following when search for spaces to book:

  • To book a space for self in China, you need no additional calculations and can rely on defaults within the system. Book as normal as the system is already set up for Chinese time zone.
  • To book for self in Germany, edit search criteria to accommodate for 4 hrs difference between the system time and the needed time. To book for 9 AM in Germany, make a booking for 5 AM with your current settings.
  • To book for self in USA Chicago (GMT-5), mind the 13 hrs difference and search for spaces on the needed date.
  • To book for someone else in Australia (GMT+10), add 2 hrs of difference to search for appropriate spaces.
