Roamer X is our next-generation mobile app, designed to enhance engagement, boost productivity, and provide seamless access to the smart building solution.
With Roamer X, users can effortlessly search for and book spaces, use their phone as a digital pass for secure access (for supported systems), navigate buildings with digital signage, control environmental settings in rooms, receive smart notifications, give feedback on their experiences, and much more. Its intuitive design makes it easy to integrate into corporate buildings, campuses, and other smart environments, delivering a truly connected experience.
Roamer X is part of MEIDS Intelligent Building Software Stack (IBSS), which functions as a Tenant and Workplace Experience.

New features available in Roamer X

As of EA 3.6

  1. Quick links or Signposts can be created to signpost your organisation to designated third party apps and websites. You can set different links for Android and iOS mobile phone users.
  2. Single or multiple catering orders
Catering orders can be created to the confirmed space booking if the booking time is within the catering cut-off time, meaning there’s enough time to prepare and deliver the order.
With the API.Catering.MultipleOrders permission, users will have the corresponding options available.
  3. Mobile Device Management and Mobile Application Management
Roamer X can be managed in Microsoft Intune and set to read your organisational Intune application protection policies.
Organisation can define rules for Roamer X on corporate and/or personal devices, for example:
    1. Ability to install Roamer X or configure app settings
    2. Being forced to use the Authenticator app for login
    3. Having Roamer X blocked on certain devices
    4. Ability to copy and paste from or to Roamer X
  4. Mobile Security Credentials
Roamer X supports the use of Security Passes and stores them directly within the app
Users can use their mobile phones to tap at access line readers to open access points without the need for a separate pass
It will require appropriate access control system set up for Mobile credential readers and mobile credential cloud management. Currently the following are supported:
    1. HID
    2. Salto JustIn
    3. Gallagher (non-card access)
    4. (with Tapkey integration planned in future releases)

  5. Series bookings for desks: recurring or multiple that doesn’t go with any pattern
  6. Visitor Types
Different visitor types such as a corporate guest or maintenance contractor, can have unique workflows to capture information or acceptance on visitor check-in, for example, the form of transport used to get to the building or agreement to a privacy policy. The visitor can either complete this on the Guest tablet app or reception staff complete this on OneLens360.
  7. Indoor Positioning
For Signify sensors only at the moment.
We’re adding support for BLE sensors in the future.
  8. Launch Page
For organisations where the security passes are enabled, we now check for stored security passes on the app launch.

What’s different to Roamer 1

  1. Simplified booking management navigation
Space page is now combined with the booking page into one dynamic page to view space information and create a booking
In Roamer 1, we could slide to the right (to view space information) or left (to cancel the booking), click on the booking card
    to edit the booking.
  2. 2-step booking process
In Roamer X, we create a booking first with reduced requirements to fill in details. This is done to be able to book immediately. After the booking is created, we can tailor the booking immediately (add details) or edit it later.

Notes to consider before transitioning to Roamer X

  1. KPI tiles images will need to be updated for Roamer X
Stock images will be displayed during the test phase
  2. Signposts will need to be created with the QuickLink type and for Roamer if they weren’t already created with the “Flex and Roamer” setting for Applications.
Roamer X can be added to managed apps in Microsoft Intune. Read more here: Roamer X managed in Microsoft Intune.

Feature that is no longer present in Roamer X comparing to Roamer 1

In Roamer 1, users were able to reorder or remove home page sections to their taste under User Preferences > Home Page Settings.
We’re not adding the same page to Roamer X because of how the new home page is built.

Upcoming features in Roamer X for functional alignment with Flex

Features that are not planned for Roamer X at this point

  • Changing location for a confirmed booking
Roamer X users will have to either move to Flex to change booking location, or they can cancel the booking and create a new one.
  • Spaces Schedule
The page is a big table that’s not suitable for mobile screens. Roamer X shows scheduled bookings for each space individually for the searched date.
  • Delegate Permissions and Delegate Access
Users cannot define delegates for themselves in Roamer X. This can only be done in Flex.
