To have the IBSS Connect deployed within an organisation and available for organisation employees, follow these guidelines.

✅ Prerequisites:

  • Your IBSS Hub version is 2025.02 or later.
  • Ensure that users have Microsoft 365 Business licenses or Office 365 Enterprise licenses and are signed in to Office with their organizational ID.
  • They should also have Exchange Online and active Exchange Online mailboxes.

✅ Office and Exchange Online Requirements. Users must have specific versions of Office applications and Exchange Online that support the OAuth authentication. Users must also be on the latest version of Outlook for Windows or Outlook for macOS.

❌ Unsupported Scenarios. The IBSS Connect app does not support the following:

  • Any other previously released versions of Office or Outlook applications
  • On-premises directory services
  • Exchange on-premises mailboxes
  • COM or VSTO add-ins
  • Microsoft 365 deployments without Exchange Online

Deploying IBSS Connect from file

To start, IBSS Customer Support team provides a link to the customer manifest file in the deployment-specific storage account.

Then, customer IT team is to complete the following:

  1. Get the customer-specific URL for IBSS products. For example: “customer.iconics.cloud” or "customer.meids.cloud".
  2. In Microsoft Entra ID (formerly AAD), update organisation's Application Registration for IBSS. In the Authentication section, add a new "Web" type entry with the value https://storage.ibss.<CUSTOMER URL>/connect/Index.html and click Save.

  3. In the M365 Admin Center > Settings > Integrated apps > Upload custom apps:
    1. Under App type, select Office Add-in
    2. Under Provide link to the manifest file, use the link that has been provided by the IBSS Customer Support team on Step 1: https://storage.ibss.<CUSTOMER URL>/connect/manifest.xml.
    3. Next to Provide link to the manifest file, click Validate.
    4. If the validation is successful, click Next.
    5. Assign users who you want to use IBSS Connect.
We recommend to start with Specific users/groups to see if the deployment is correct. Then you can return to this step to select the Entire organisation option.
    6. On the next page, check if you are happy with the required permissions.
    7. Click Finish deployment.
    8. Now, the IBSS manifest file is loaded into your Office tenant, and your users can see IBSS Connect appearing in the next 1-2 days in their Outlook apps on desktop and in browser.
  4. Disable pop-up blockers for Outlook on the web (optional).
When using IBSS Connect in Outlook on the web, popups are required to allow a login flow to run. We recommend to deploy configuration for your web browsers to allow popups by default for "outlook.office.com". This can be done through your chosen device management tools such as Microsoft Intune, for example.
