Task Categories and types help service requests be as precise as possible for the operations team to tackle them efficiently. Task Categories are the starting point to set up Task Management in IBSS for your organisation.

Start by defining main categories for tasks per space type. After task categories are set up, the next step is creating task types. View more details here: Tasks > Types page in Operations.

Creating a category

Depending on what's available in your building and what service your users can expect in a space as well as depending on what responsibilities do the maintenance teams have for the space, you can create task categories accordingly.

  1. On the Task Category page, click +ADD. An Add New Category popup opens.
  2. (required) Define Category Name that users will select when raising an issue with the space. The name cannot be changed after you save the category.
  3. (required) Select the Space Type to assign this Task Category to.
  4. (optional) Select the Resource Type that has been assigned to stores and referenced accordingly.
  5. (optional) Enable Category using the toggle.
  6. (optional) Select image to later support users visually when they create a task (currently reserved for future functionality).
  7. Click Save.

Your new category is now listed on the Tasks > Categories page for the selected building. If your have enabled it and added task types or at least an option to raise a free-form task, your users are now able to select this category from Workspace, Roamer X, or Unity.
